ABOUT

Catchy hooks, warm lyrics, sweet sounding harmonies gives Brendan a different brand of music with a country/pop feel Drawing on his experience of travel, love and loss, Brendan creates a nostalgic and often dreamy window into his past through his songs, appealing to the sentimental and personal feelings of a broad demographic of listeners.

Brendan Deehan has worked in the Sydney pub scene for the last 15 years, playing covers as a soloist and part of the duo, Red Light Ruby. Like many artists, he has his Dad’s record collection to thank for leading him to country music.

With influences including The Beatles and John Denver to discovering Keith Urban in his 20s, Brendan's teenage years were shaped by bands like Nirvana. At a time when grunge music was king, he naturally gravitated to it and played in a few genre-specific bands.

But the singer-songwriter kept crafting softer acoustic songs geared towards finger-picking and prettier sounds. A natural pull to country music was inevitable.

However, a focus on honing his live music skills put a stop to the writing for almost a decade. Fast-forward to 2020, with no live gigs and more free time, songwriting was once again the focus.

Brendan’s 2nd single ‘Love You The Same’ was mostly recorded in his home studio and mixed by the award-winning Matt Fell. A song about young love and then parting ways to travel, it’s an experience that would resonate with many listeners. ‘Love You The Same’ will be available from May 6th, 2021.
